Museum Lease Agreement

The London Borough of Waltham Forest have agreed to grant a 30 year peppercorn lease to the museum trust so that it may develop the site into a regional attraction celebrating the industrial first achievements of the Lea Valley. It is expected that the site could be fully developed subject to funding in late 2013. The museum project director stated: We are very grateful to the London Borough of Waltham Forest Council for the granting of this long term lease to the trust. The museum can now move forward in developing the site into an exciting new regional attraction celebrating the forgotten and largest untold industrial story in the world, and Britain's Best Kept Industrial Secret.

Victoria Line Sectioned Car 3016 to be Fully Restored

Driving car 3016

This is a section of the museums unique 1967 Victoria Line Car driving car 3016. Due to the extensive restoration required on the full car and the arrival of a fully refurbished 1967 Victoria Line driving car 3186 below, it was decided that only part of the car could be saved for posterity. With the assistance of a team from Northumberland Park Victoria Line depot and a generous donation from Mr Edwin Collier all the parts required to restore the car back to its1967 mode have now been secured. It is also the only 1967 un-refurbished car in preservation. As 2013 will mark the 150th anniversary of London Underground the museum wish to have the car fully restored by then. Are you interested in the London Underground and working on this exciting restoration project? If so please contact the museum curator Mr Lindsay Collier on 07930 662252. When it is fully restored it will be sited next to car 3186 in an underground diorama setting in the new museum gallery.
